General
PDFMaster is a free, browser-based toolkit of 21+ PDF and image conversion tools. Convert PDF to JPG, merge PDFs, split files, reorder pages, remove metadata, and more — all without uploading a single file to any server. Everything runs directly in your web browser using modern JavaScript APIs, keeping your files 100% private.
PDFMaster was founded by Happy Gupta, a student developer passionate about browser APIs and privacy-preserving technology. The project was born in 2024 out of frustration with PDF tools that forced users to upload sensitive files to unknown servers or pay for basic features. Learn more on our About page.
Three key reasons: (1) Privacy — your files never leave your device, unlike most online PDF tools. (2) Speed — on-device processing gives instant results with no upload queues. (3) Cost — completely free, with no subscriptions, paywalls, or hidden fees, ever. No account needed either.
No account, email, or registration of any kind is required. Simply open a tool and start using it immediately. PDFMaster is intentionally zero-friction — no sign-up forms, no email verification, no passwords to manage. Just open and use.
PDFMaster currently has 5 live tools covering a wide range of document needs. Our tools include Photo to PDF, PDF to Photo, Split PDF, Merge PDF (Compiler), PDF Metadata Remover, and many more. We are constantly building and releasing new tools. See the latest update on our Announcements page.
We aim to release new tools every month. Our roadmap is driven by user feedback — the most-requested features get prioritised. If there's a tool you'd like to see, let us know via the contact form and select "Feature Request".
Use our Contact page and select "Tool Issue / Bug Report" from the subject dropdown. Please include: the tool name, a brief description of the problem, your browser name and version, and your operating system. We typically respond within 24 working hours.
Reach us via the Contact page or email [email protected]. For bugs: [email protected]. For partnerships: [email protected]. We reply to all enquiries within 24 working hours, Monday to Saturday.
The announcement page is a dedicated space where we share important updates about PDFMaster, including new features, improvements, bug fixes, and service-related notices.
We update the announcement page whenever there is something important to share. This includes feature releases, performance improvements, or any temporary issues affecting the tools.
Not necessarily. You can check it whenever you want to stay updated, but we recommend visiting it occasionally to learn about new features. You can also subscribe to our email updates for important notifications. (We never spam and your data remains private.)
If you are subscribed to our email updates, you may receive important announcements directly in your inbox. Otherwise, all updates are always available on the announcement page.
Yes! You can contact us through our Contact page or via our feedback options. We actively consider user feedback while improving the platform.
Privacy & Security
100% safe. PDFMaster processes all files entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never transmitted to any server, never stored anywhere, and never accessible to anyone but you. When you close your browser tab, all file data is gone. No cloud, no servers, no risk of data breaches.
Never. PDFMaster has zero server-side file processing infrastructure. Unlike other online PDF tools that send documents to cloud servers, PDFMaster runs entirely in your browser. Your internet connection is only used to load the website itself — not to transmit any of your files.
We collect minimal, anonymised analytics only — things like page views and general device type. We do not collect file contents, file names, personal information, or anything that could identify you. We never sell data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
PDFMaster uses localStorage (not cookies) only to remember your dark/light mode preference. This stores no personal data. Third-party CDN providers used to load open-source libraries may set their own minimal technical cookies in line with their own policies.
Because PDFMaster processes files entirely on-device and collects no personal data or file content, we have inherently minimal GDPR obligations. We store no personal data, run no user databases, and offer no user accounts. Analytics are fully anonymised. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
No, absolutely not. Because your files are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to our servers, it is technically impossible for anyone at PDFMaster to access or view your documents. This is not just a policy promise — it's an architectural guarantee built into how the tools work.
Yes — PDFMaster is safer for sensitive documents than most alternatives because files never leave your device. Legal documents, financial records, medical files, and personal documents can all be processed with no risk of server interception. As general best practice, always keep your own backups of important originals.
You can inspect the network tab in your browser to verify that no data is being uploaded anywhere. PDFMaster can also be used entirely offline (once libraries are loaded). Furthermore, our code is public on GitHub, allowing you to review it or even run it locally on your own machine.
PDFMaster is open source to build trust and transparency. Since our tools process files directly in your browser, we want users to be able to verify that no data is uploaded or stored. Open source also allows developers to contribute improvements, fix issues, and help make the tool better for everyone.
Tools & Features
Open the Photo to PDF tool: (1) Click "Browse" or drag and drop your image files onto the upload zone. (2) Reorder images by dragging if needed. (3) Choose your page size and orientation. (4) Click "Convert to PDF" — the PDF downloads instantly. Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and more.
Open the PDF to Photo tool and upload your PDF. Each page will be rendered as a high-quality image. Adjust the output quality/DPI, then download individual pages or all images at once as a ZIP file. Pages are rendered at full resolution using your browser's built-in PDF rendering engine.
Use the PDF Compiler tool. Upload two or more PDF files, drag them into your preferred order, optionally select specific page ranges from each file, then click "Compile PDF". The merged document downloads instantly. No limit on the number of PDFs you can combine.
The Split PDF tool lets you divide a PDF multiple ways: split every page into individual files, split at specific page numbers, or extract a custom page range (e.g. pages 3–7). All resulting files download as a ZIP archive immediately.
Open the PDF Reorder tool and upload your PDF. Thumbnail previews of all pages appear. Drag and drop them into your desired order, then click "Save Reordered PDF" to download the updated file instantly.
The Split PDF tool offers multiple modes: Custom Ranges (extract specific pages like 1-3, 5), Fixed Ranges (split every X pages), and Extract All Pages (save every page as a separate PDF). It provides visual page selection and downloads a ZIP file containing the split documents.
Use the PDF Metadata Remover tool. Upload your PDF and the tool strips all hidden metadata — author name, creation date, software information, geolocation tags, and other embedded properties — then lets you download the clean file. Ideal before sharing sensitive PDFs publicly.
Yes! Every page on PDFMaster has a dark/light mode toggle in the top navigation bar. Click the toggle switch ( / ) to switch themes. Your preference is automatically saved for your next visit.
Partially. Because all processing is on-device, the tools themselves work without internet once the page has loaded. You do need a connection to initially load the website and JavaScript libraries. If you've recently visited a tool page, your browser may cache it for limited offline use.
We are actively developing several new tools including: PDF Compressor, Page Numbering, PDF Watermark, Excel to PDF, PDF to Excel, PDF Blank Page Inserter, and more advanced document management features. Check the homepage tools section for the full list of available and upcoming tools.
File Support
Input formats: PDF (.pdf), JPEG/JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF for image tools. Output formats: PDF for conversion tools, JPG/PNG for PDF-to-image tools, and ZIP archives when downloading multiple files. Support for additional formats like HEIC and SVG is being explored for future updates.
There is no server-imposed file size limit since all processing happens in your browser. Very large files (100MB+) may process more slowly depending on your device's available RAM and CPU. For best performance with large files, use a desktop or laptop with a modern browser like Chrome.
There is no hard limit on the number of files. The Photo to PDF and PDF Compiler tools let you add as many files as needed. Performance may slow on very large batches (50+ PDFs) depending on your device. On modern hardware, even large batches typically process in seconds.
Output quality is high by default. PDF tools preserve original document quality. For PDF-to-image conversions, pages are rendered at high DPI (typically 150–300 DPI). Some tools offer a quality/compression slider so you can balance file size against output quality based on your needs.
Currently, PDFMaster tools do not support password-protected or encrypted PDFs. If you try to process a locked PDF, the tool will display an error. You'll need to remove the password protection first using another tool, then process it in PDFMaster. A dedicated PDF unlock tool is on our roadmap.
PDFMaster can process scanned PDFs (treated as image-based PDFs). However, OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract searchable text from scanned documents is not currently supported. We're exploring adding browser-based OCR via Tesseract.js in a future update.
Errors typically occur if the PDF is: (1) password-protected — unlock it first; (2) corrupted or malformed — try re-downloading or re-exporting from the source app; (3) uses a non-standard PDF version our library doesn't fully support. If problems persist, contact us with the tool name and error details.
Technical
PDFMaster works on all modern browsers: Google Chrome (recommended), Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Brave. Keep your browser updated to the latest version for the best performance and compatibility. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Yes. PDFMaster is fully responsive and designed for all screen sizes — smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. It works on iOS Safari and Android Chrome. Some drag-and-drop features (like reordering files) may behave differently on touch screens, but all core functionality is accessible on mobile.
Modern browsers include powerful APIs for file handling and computation. PDFMaster leverages open-source libraries — PDF.js (by Mozilla, for rendering), pdf-lib (for creating/modifying PDFs), and jsPDF (for generating PDFs from images) — which run entirely as JavaScript in your browser tab. Your CPU and RAM do the processing, not a remote server.
Try these steps: (1) Refresh the page — libraries may not have fully loaded. (2) Clear your browser cache (Ctrl+Shift+Del on Windows, Cmd+Shift+Del on Mac). (3) Try a different browser — Chrome usually gives the best performance. (4) Check your internet connection — the page needs to load JavaScript libraries on first visit. Still stuck? Report it to us.
This is usually caused by a browser popup/download blocker. Check if your browser blocked a download — look for a notification bar at the top or bottom of the browser. Allow downloads from pdfmaster.co.in in your browser settings. On mobile, the file saves to your Downloads folder automatically. If using an in-app browser, try opening PDFMaster in your device's default browser instead.
Free & Billing
Yes, completely free. There are no subscriptions, no paywalls, no premium tiers, no per-conversion fees, and no hidden charges of any kind. Every tool — all 21+ of them — is free to use without limits. We believe professional document tools should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget.
Yes. Keeping PDFMaster free forever is a core mission commitment, not just marketing. We will always provide a fully functional free option — no rug-pulls, no sudden paywalls.
Currently PDFMaster is a passion project maintained by its founder. In the future, we may introduce non-intrusive advertising, optional donations — while keeping all core tools completely free. Our privacy-first values mean we will never sell user data as a revenue source.
An API and enterprise offering is on our roadmap. If you represent a business with high-volume document processing needs, please reach out via the contact page or email [email protected] with details about your use case. We'd love to discuss options.
